Despite this being the Saturday before the Great North Run where many of our regular runners were taking part, we still had 109 people turning out a Wetherby. Out at the front we had a very close group of runners until on the third lap Adam Kirk broke free and in the end was 20 seconds ahead of the second placed man Darryl Hibberd. I said to him that he made it look easy, but his response was "believe me it wasn't, it never is!"
Slightly lower down in the field we had an amazing performance from Emma McCormick, who was making her first ever parkrun, but still achieved a superb time of 24mins 11 seconds. Bella her dog, kept her company all the way, and although I cannot be sure I think that this is the dog record too!
We also had a photo finish between two runners who went round the course in absolute synchronism, Holly Hudson and Amanda Spencer. Even their little fingers were a mimic of each other.
We had a very good complement of marshals and I hope that we can keep this up in the weeks to come.
However, I have to finish on a slightly disappointing note. Every week we take pictures of the event and these are carefully edited and selected before they are posted on the Facebook pages. The criteria for selection is that we put ourselves in your shoes and ask whether we would mind being seen like this. So if at the moment the shutter clicked and you were not at your best it will never be published. When I looked at the statistics for this weeks photo set ( just now, Tuesday lunch time), I see there has just been 4 views, so I do wonder whether it is something we ought to be continuing with?

The male record is held by Kristoff BOYNTON who recorded a time of 16:05 on 15th August 2015 (event number 19).
The female record is held by Alice LEAKE who recorded a time of 17:56 on 19th May 2018 (event number 143).
The Age Grade course record is held by Jo HARBON who recorded 91.65% (19:45) on 7th September 2019 (event number 204).
Wetherby parkrun started on 21st March 2015. Since then 4,690 participants have completed 17,072 parkruns covering a total distance of 85,360 km, including 2,739 new Personal Bests. A total of 416 individuals have volunteered 2,766 times.
